Job Description

The UAA Justice Center is holding an open recruitment for Criminology and Criminal Justice adjunct instructors who are interested in expanding their professional practice to include part-time teaching in undergraduate programs.

The UAA Justice Center is seeking applicants for its Criminology and Criminal Justice adjunct labor pool. The Criminology and Criminal Justice Bachelor of Arts program, located within the Justice Center, is dedicated to providing strong and innovative instruction that prepares students for engaged citizenship by providing them specialized knowledge and skills required for the evaluation, administration and improvement of police, court, and correctional policies and organizations. Instruction will occur through distance delivery, face-to-face on campus methods, or through hybrid approaches combining these methods.

Hiring decisions for temporary faculty are made on a semester-by-semester basis, according to the needs of that semester's schedule, and needs that arise during the course of a given semester. We seek to identify talented adjunct faculty the Justice Center can invest in, provide training and mentoring to prior to and during instruction, and establish long term working relationships to enhance quality of faculty for the benefit of our students and programs.

Candidates will be evaluated on past teaching experiences, expertise and experience relevant to effective teaching in the area of need, and potential for providing high-quality instruction to undergraduate students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Adjunct faculty offering lower-division Criminology and Criminal Justice courses are required to hold a Master’s degree in criminal justice, criminology or a related discipline, or equivalent specialized training and/or educational certifications, and possess two to three years of related experience.
