School Nurse (F/T)

Germantown Friends School is seeking a full-time School Nurse who will work in conjunction with another full-time nurse to support students and employees.

Responsibilities Include:

• Provide nursing care to ill and injured students and employees.
• Manage and maintain student health records.
• Respond to students who are ill and communicate with important individuals about this illness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Characteristics Include:

• The ability to work both positively and cooperatively with students, parents, and employees.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Team player. The school nurses frequently collaborate with school counselors, athletic trainers, faculty and staff, and each other.
• The ability to practice autonomously.
• The ability to calmly respond to health situations that arise on campus.
• Working autonomously is paramount to the position as well as the ability to make appropriate decisions on a daily basis.
• Must have the ability to calmly respond to health situations that arise on campus and work to resolve situations quickly.
• Multicultural and inclusivity awareness and social skills to work with the entire population required in this role.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in speech and writing with students, parents, and employees on a daily basis.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the state of Pennsylvania
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required
• School nurse certification preferred
• Three to five years of practical experience in the field, preferably with a pediatric population.
• Current CPR certification required

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements, simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine motor and gross motor skills, bending, lifting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching.
• Ability to lift students as required and the stamina to stand all day as needed.

Schedule:

• Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
• Flexibility to work during various school events.
