Description What You'll Do: This position performs the necessary maintenance and custodial functions to maintain program building and grounds in a manner that provides compliance with Child Care Center licensing rules. This position works with the Assistant Director of Business and Support Services, Regional Manager and Area Manager to ensure full implementation of the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) and state and federal mandates. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for general building custodial duties (sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, etc.), as assigned.
- Gather and remove refuse from building and grounds.
- Clean and disinfect wash basins, toilet bowls and drinking fountains.
- Fill orders for building supplies and assist with cleaning and stocking facilities with paper and supplies.
- Perform preventative and light maintenance in restrooms, classrooms, office, and other areas as assigned.
- Remove snow and ice from the sidewalks of building as assigned.
- Perform routine lawn maintenance and repairs; maintain all equipment.
- Paint and perform minor repairs to maintain facilities, as directed.
- Inspect all inside and outside lighting, making necessary repairs to equipment and change bulbs, as needed.
- Keep maintenance area clean and orderly.
- Monitor all building mechanical/electrical systems (HVAC, Security, etc.) to ensure operating properly and communicate with contractors on any concerns.
- Assist Area Managers to ensure compliance with HSPPS, federal and state licensing regulations on building repairs and construction to include obtaining quotes, ensuring compliance with Davis Bacon and state licensing, obtain W-9s and liability insurance.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in daily activities.
- Maintain inventory record of all tools, supplies and equipment.
- Obtain and Maintain Playground Safety Inspector certification. Complete playground certification checks in assigned areas to ensure applicable safety requirements by participating in a sufficient schedule of site reviews. Act as a consultant on playground modifications and give technical assistance based on regulations.
- Assist program staff in assigned region with any Facility and Transportation CAPS to ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Effectively communicate with staff, vendors and contractors in a timely manner on any business or concerns.
- To know and function in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and other program guidelines.
- Follow all Agency policies and procedures, including Universal Precautions.
- Understand the confidential nature of the work involved and treat the information gained accordingly.
- Represent the Agency in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Complete all required Agency paperwork timely, accurately and in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
Requirements What We'll Love About You: High School diploma or GED required. One year of experience in custodial and/or maintenance work preferred. Basic computer and technology skills required. NORTHEAST MICHIGAN COMMUNITY SERVICE AGENCY, Inc.
